The Complete Nano brow aftercare instruction Guide for Long Lasting Results

Investing in nano brows is one of the best choices you can make for your daily beauty routine. Utilizing a specialized permanent makeup machine equipped with ultra-fine nano needles, this advanced technique creates remarkably crisp, natural-looking hair strokes. However, the true secret to achieving flawless, long-lasting results lies in what happens after you leave the studio chair.

Your skin requires strategic, careful healing to properly lock in the pigment. Failing to follow a structured routine can lead to premature fading, patchy spots, or poor retention. This comprehensive nano brows aftercare guide breaks down the healing timeline, essential rules, and expert tips to ensure your new brows stay stunning for years to come.

The Nano Brows Healing Process: What to Expect

Understanding the emotional and physical rollercoaster of the permanent makeup healing process will prevent unnecessary panic. Your brows will change dynamically over the course of 4 to 6 weeks.

Days 1–3: Bold and Dark

Immediately following your appointment, your skin will begin its natural defense mechanism. The treated area may look slightly red, tender, or swollen. Because the pigment is sitting fresh on the surface of the skin, your brows will appear much darker, thicker, and sharper than their final healed look. Do not panic—this is entirely temporary.

Days 4–7: The Flaking Phase

As your skin naturally repairs itself, a thin layer of protective flaking or scabbing will form over the nano needle strokes. You might experience mild to intense itching. This is the most critical phase: you must absolutely refrain from picking, scratching, or rubbing your brows. Forcing the flakes off prematurely can pull the underlying pigment completely out of the dermis, leaving permanent blank spots in your design.

Days 8–14: The "Ghosting" Phase

Once the flaking naturally drops off, you might notice your brows look shockingly light, or as if they have disappeared entirely. PMU artists call this the "ghosting phase." The new skin layer over the fresh ink is temporarily opaque, masking the color underneath. Over the next two weeks, the pigment will gradually resurface and darken to its true shade.

Weeks 4–6: True Reflection and Touch-Up

By the end of the first month, the cellular turnover is complete. Your color settles completely, and the skin is fully healed. This is when you return for your scheduled touch-up appointment to fill in any minor gaps and perfect the saturation for long-term retention.

Brow Aftercare Instructions

Day of Procedure

Starting 30 minutes after your procedure, gently wipe your brows using a single use cotton round, paper towel, or sterile gauze dampened with sterile or distilled water.

Gently pat the brows clean, then allow them to air dry or lightly fan dry.

Repeat this process every 30 minutes for the first 2 hours to remove any lymph fluid and help minimize scabbing.

Days 1–7

Always wash your hands thoroughly before touching your brows.

Morning and evening, gently cleanse your brows using a damp single-use cotton round with distilled water and a fragrance-free antibacterial soap.

Pat dry with a clean paper towel or sterile gauze. Do not use bath towels or reusable cloth towels.

Apply one rice grain-sized amount of the healing balm and divide it evenly between both brows.

Apply only a very thin (sheer) layer, just enough to keep the brows moisturized while allowing the skin to breathe.

Continue this routine for 7 days, or until otherwise instructed by your artist.

Please note: Every client heals differently. Some clients experience noticeable flaking or peeling, while others have very little or no visible flaking at all. Both healing experiences are completely normal and do not indicate whether your results will be better or worse. Avoid comparing your healing to someone else’s, and continue following your aftercare instructions regardless of how much or how little you flake.

During the Healing Process (First 7–10 Days)

Please avoid:

Excessive sweating or strenuous exercise.

Getting your brows wet in the shower. Use the provided shower shield if needed.

Swimming, hot tubs, saunas, and steam rooms.

Direct sun exposure (wear a hat when outdoors).

Sleeping on your face.

Applying makeup, skincare products, or sunscreen directly on the brows.

Picking, scratching, or peeling any flaking skin.

After Day 7

Once the initial healing period is complete:

You may resume your normal skincare routine around the brows.

Begin applying a moisturizer with SPF to help protect the pigment from sun exposure and prolong your results.

FAQ Section

How long does Nano Brows healing take?

Most clients experience initial healing within 10 to 14 days, while complete healing and colour stabilization typically take 4 to 6 weeks.

Can I wash my face after Nano Brows?

Yes, but you should avoid excessive moisture on the brow area and carefully follow your artist's cleansing instructions during healing.

Is flaking normal after Nano Brows?

Yes. Mild flaking and peeling are normal parts of the healing process and should be allowed to occur naturally.

Why do my Nano Brows look lighter during healing?

This is often called the ghosting phase. The pigment may temporarily appear lighter as new skin forms over the treated area.

Can I exercise after getting Nano Brows?

It is generally recommended to avoid intense exercise and excessive sweating during the early healing period to protect pigment retention.

When can I wear makeup around my Nano Brows?

You should avoid applying makeup directly on the healing brows until your artist confirms that healing is complete.

How can I make my Nano Brows last longer?

Protect your brows from sun exposure, avoid harsh exfoliants near the area, follow proper skincare practices, and schedule maintenance touch-ups when recommended.

Do Nano Brows require touch-ups?

Yes. Most clients benefit from a touch-up appointment several weeks after the initial procedure to perfect the shape, colour, and overall results.
